Anti-Gay Kentucky Councilwoman Evicts, Assaults, and Insults Same-Sex Couple, Slapping Them and Calling Them “Faggots”

By Adi Chowdhury

Esther Thompson, a Kentucky councilwoman, has come under fire for criminally assaulting a gay couple, reports LGBTQ Nation.

The city councilwoman was set to face a judge Monday for criminal assault of a man she evicted from her hometown because he and his boyfriend are gay.

Joshua Melton and James Feltner told WYMT-TV they had been renting a townhouse owned by Thompson for nine months until one day in June, when they say she called him and his boyfriend “faggot,” and slapped him in the face. She told them they had one day to clear out, according to Melton. He additionally quoted Thompson as saying “she should have never rented to the faggots”, also alleging that she struck him across the face.

Jordan Palmer of the Kentucky Equality Federation, which is reportedly assisting the men in their legal fight, told Peacock Panache: “Discrimination, we won’t tolerate it in any form in any part of the Commonwealth.”

The website also reports that the group is also seeking “the termination or severe remedial action of the accused Manchester Police Officers involved, the resignation or removal of the accused City Council Member from office and an investigation into the ethical practices of the Clay County Attorney.” The couple has also asked the U.S Attorney to investigate whether Thompson violated their civil rights.

Thompson has attempted to defend herself, claiming “that the couple violated their lease by having six dogs inside the apartment.” In response to this, Melton replied, “There were three dogs … chihuahuas that we’ve had forever and she knew that we had them. Our carpets were not destroyed [as she claimed].”

Let us and all humanists across the globe stand resolutely in defense of the citizens denigrated and demeaned systematically for their sexual orientation. Let us combat such superstition and unwarranted hostility, and embrace a more tolerant, understanding, and rational future.

  1. I have realized some important things through your blog post. One other thing I would like to talk about is that there are plenty of games available on the market designed specially for toddler age children. They include pattern recognition, colors, dogs, and patterns. These often focus on familiarization instead of memorization. This keeps children engaged without having a sensation like they are learning. Thanks
